Winter vacation is near! ‘Tis the season of de-stressing, but is also the time to travel and get out of the house. Lucky for you and me, there are three breathtaking places in the Philippines that are perfect for holiday getaways.
Need fresh air? Need to soak up some warm sun and find a beach to relax on? El Nido, Palawan, is the place for anybody – anywhere – looking for a combination of adventure and tranquility. The emerald and blue waters of the ocean combined with El Nido’s relaxing ambience will leave you calm and collected after a hectic first semester. El Nido is considered the best beach island destination in the Philippines for its extraordinary natural splendor and ecosystem. And not far from the haven of El Nido is the underground river, one of the Seven Wonders of the World and an absolute must-see.
An amazing, hidden paradise not far from Manila is Batangas, Nasugbu. Nasugbu is a first class municipality in the province of Batangas. This wonderful region boasts scores of relaxing and elegant resorts, such as the Pico De Loro. The resorts in Nasugbu are not too pricy, much cheaper than the exclusive hotel resorts in Boracay, but better in quality due to less weekend tourism and more open spaces. Nasugbu also offers beautiful mountain vistas, such as that of Mt. Pico de Loro.
The last site to check out during your holiday season is Villa Escudero, about a two-hour journey from the city. Villa Escudero is a priceless place for those who wish to experience Philippine culture. Historical Philippine artifacts in Villa Escudero museums, waterfall restaurant, and countryside tours round out the Villa Escudero experience.
Get out of the city this December to relax or have an adventure in the beautiful country we call home – be happy, be merry, and happy holidays!
