In previous years, “Rockin’ Round The X’mas Tree” was an opportunity for the Battle of the Bands (BOB) committee to audition the acts who had signed up in October. These aspiring acts would then be competing for the top spots in the preliminary BOB competition held in January.
However, the event this year will be appropriately renamed “Rocking Round The Giving Tree”. Why the name change? Co-President of the BOB committee, Danielle Limcaoco reasons that it accurately encompassed the feeling of service entwined with this year’s event. She states that as BOB this year is catering to various service projects and efforts (such as the SPECS club), in order to “help another existing service club here at ISM.” Having said that, this event is not limited to ISM service clubs; it also serves as a fund-raising relief effort for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda that devastated the Leyte and Samar Islands earlier this month.
Contrary to previous years, the competition is incredibly high as more bands have signed up to be a part of the 12th annual BOB event. With such musical talent present at ISM, it’s definitely going to be a difficult decision for the Judges to cut acts.
Rocking Round The Giving Tree will be hosted in the brand new AMR hall, on December 4 at 3:30 pm. Tickets for this event are 100 pesos, so be sure to drop by for not only great music but also a charitable cause. As Danielle puts it, “it’s the best of both worlds!”
