Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Gisele Bundchen, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Alicia Keys, and Jennifer Lawrence—these are perhaps some of the most philanthropic and charitable celebrities who have continuously done service work and are quite recognized for doing so. However, there are countless of other celebrities who have been doing charity work under-the-radar, and without much recognition from the public.
50 Cent, for example, is arguably one of the most charitable celebrities in the entertainment business today.. He has founded the G-Unity Foundation, with the aim to provide grants to nonprofit organizations in low-income communities. His motivation to continuously do charity work stems from what he witnessed in the Occupy Wall Street protests. He believed the protesters knew that the major corporations “did not care about them” and about charity. As a result, with a clear moral compass, he knew it was the “right thing to do” to help out and donate to the respective organizations.
Most famously known for playing the role of Harvey Specter in the TV show, ‘Suits’, Gabriel Macht also visited the Philippines in response to the devastating Typhoon Haiyan. In the March of 2014, he worked alongside Globe’s “Project Wonderful” program, which promotes nation-building by providing livelihood opportunities as well as relevant entrepreneurship. Macht reflected, after “witnessing the devastation of Typhoon Haiyan” that he felt motivated and inspired to “raise awareness and financial aid to help thousands of people still struggling to get back on their feet”.
50 Cent and Gabriel Macht are merely two of a myriad of celebrities who continuously strive to do charity work, despite the lack of media fanfare. Their selflessness and compassion speak great lengths, motivate fellow celebrities, and inspire countless.
