Surreal Steals and Deals on Cyber Monday

Article by Selina de Dios

Let’s face it, who doesn’t love a good sale? Something about the flashing red tags dangling on the original price tag is enough to coax anyone into making a purchase. And what makes it even better is when there are whole days dedicated to snagging bargains, one of the most anticipated ones being the Black Friday sales which occur the day after Thanksgiving. It often marks the beginning of the Christmas shopping season, which can be one of the most stressful times of the year. However, since Thanksgiving is a holiday celebrated in the United States, most other countries including the Philippines miss out on Black Friday. And while some stores have attempted to take on this marketing ploy in the areas of Makati and Taguig, cities filled with expats, nothing compares to the chaotic sales in America. Sad, right? But wait, what if there was actually a way for people to avail of these deals? Yes, even right here in Manila.

It is no surprise that companies have found a way to utilize the online world to their advantage. Not wanting the sales to stop on the Friday after Thanksgiving, online stores introduced Cyber Monday as a way to promote online shopping. This started 11 years ago, and since then, online sales have skyrocketed. Now that you know a brief history, more pertinent information is probably knowing where to find these deals. Again, while most online shops in the Philippines don’t offer these deals, there are some international companies that you can still purchase from (all you have to worry about is the shipping). One of the most popular spots is the online shop Amazon, which has everything from A to Z. Literally everything. The company recently released a list of the deals to watch out for. While tech products were popular, Amazon said that the most anticipated deal was for the Mermaid Tail Blanket.

While that’s only a small glimpse of what Cyber Monday has to offer, rest assured that there are more deals out there in the world wide web. To find them, all you have to do is type the shop name in the search bar along with the key phrase “Cyber Monday,” and boom, your wallet, savings account, and future self will thank you. Happy shopping!
